Cambria Bike Community

What makes living in Cambria special? There are many things which make living in Cambria special, but one is the community of bike lovers who enjoy the scenic hills, mountains, and coast surrounding Cambria. From Cambria heading South the ride is mostly flat; but the beautiful coast and light traffic on Highway 1 make it a relaxing ride. This Southern route is perfect for those looking for a light, scenic coastal ride with friends and family. The coastline from Harmony to Cayucos is one of the most gorgeous spots one can imagine. As one rides South they can see Morro Rock, Morro Bay, and even as far as Los Osos.

A more difficult ride can be found along the Western route; from Cambria over Highway 46 offers a steep ride up and over the coastal mountains to Templeton and Paso Robles. At the top of the crest there is a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. During the Winter and Spring, the green mountains remind one of Ireland. Photographs from the top have been showcased in magazines and calendars. The Northern route from Cambria, up Highway 1 and the Big Sur coastline is one of the most famous biking routes in the world. From Cambria, one rides past San Simeon and the world famous Hearst Castle.

The Cambria Bicycle Outfitters (CBO) is one of the most recognized names in the bicycle industry, providing gear and bikes all around the world. It is not surprising, with Cambria being an epicenter for spectacular biking routes, CBO got its start in the heart of Cambria in 1986. Today, CBO has bike shops in San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles, but its store front online is - probably - the most famous location.

There are biking events happening year round in and around Cambria and the Central Coast. The Gene Cerise Memorial Country Coast Classic Bike Ride is one example happening in late June. The biking event helps to support Cambria youth, raising thousands of dollars each year. The San Luis Obispo Bicycle Club has their Lighthouse Century event in September which rides from Morro Bay through Cambria and up the coast. The ride stops just South of the Elephant Seal Observation area. These are just two of the many biking events passing through Cambria around the year.

The Cambria bike community is just one more reason living in Cambria is special. Owning a home in this quaint town is one of the best investments one can make.
